Orchids in Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara is a historical orchid growing region of California with many local orchid growers that continue the tradition of producing excellent, high-quality orchids today.
Monthly Meeting Location
Trinity Lutheran Church, 909 N. La Cumbre Road (at Foothill), Santa Barbara in the Fellowship Hall
Schedule
Meetings with speakers or culture demonstrations are held monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month except in March, July, and August. The March meeting coincides with the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show and that evening members volunteer to set up the Society display and sales booth. In July the meeting day and time is adjusted to accommodate a special guest speaker. In August the meeting is a Potluck. See the latest information here for specific details. Guests are welcome to join the meetings.
Doors open at 7:15 pm for setup, the meeting begins at 7:30 pm and usually ends at 9:30 pm.
There are no local COVID restrictions at this time, however, masks are recommended. If you have cold symptoms, please do not attend.
Program
Guest speakers present a variety of interesting and informative orchid topics each month. Our guest speakers are experts in orchids that provide new insights into the natural world and cultivation of orchids.
Member Plant Show Table
Members are encouraged to exhibit blooming orchids and share their growing experiences with the society. See the best of local growers orchids when they are at their best and take photos for your own must have orchid list.
Silent Auction
Plants for the auction are provided by members who donate a portion of the proceeds to the society. If you win, you can take home proven plants for your own orchid collection that you cannot find in retail stores.
Refreshments
Orchid society members provide light refreshments for each meeting.
